MORE THAN 100 ACTS

More than 100 acts, including Jason & the Scorchers, Sonny Landreth,
Joe Ely, Drivin' 'n' Cryin' and Jackyl, will perform at Extravaganza
1995 in Nashville, Tenn., Feb. 1-4. The 10th annual Extravaganza,
which will feature showcases, workshops and networking opportunities,
will spotlight national and regional artists in a variety of genres
-- urban, blues, jazz, bluegrass, rock, gospel and contemporary Christian.
The shows will be staged at Ryman
Auditorium, the Wildhorse Saloon, the Hard Rock Cafe, 328 Performance
Hall, the Blue Sky Court, the Bluebird Cafe, the Exit/In, the Cannery,
the Ace of Clubs and the 12th & Porter Playroom. Admission to
the event is $99 per person for those who register on or before Friday,
$125 afterward.
Little Rock band Ho Hum is among
the unsigned artists invited to perform. The list also includes John
Kilzer, Cowboy Mouth, the Nudes, Jabbering Trout, Adam
Schmidt, Son of Slam, Billygoat, Greg Brown and the Floating Men.
Concerts will feature songwriters, guitarists and progressive country
acts and the event will also include a series of seminars with panels
of music industry professionals. A special workshop will give participants
a chance to try out the latest computerized equipment.
"Extravaganza began as a
way to present local unsigned artists and expose them to record label
representatives," said Jim Zumwalt, chairman of the event and
a partner in the Music Row law firm of Zumwalt, Almon & Hayes,
in a news release. "For our 10th anniversary, we're debuting
a unique concept for music marketing and artist development. This
year, the unsigned talent will be packaged into shows with headlining
artists, whose labels will have a marketing plan designed especially
for them."
