Hardcore, punk-energy country at its absolute best. Jason’s sound hasn’t changed much since the band’s first EP in the early ‘80s. The Scorchers bring new life to Gram Parsons and Roger McGuinn’s Drugstore Truck Drivin’ Man and Jason duets with Gram’s discovery, Emmylou Harris, on the beautiful Everything Has a Cost which is, at times, reminiscent of a Phil Ochs song. Warner Hodges’ guitar is monstrous throughout. One listen to Tomorrow Has Come Today is proof of that. I’m Sticking With You, with its interesting twists, both lyrically and musically, is my new favorite song.
