The brilliant and iconic Jason & the Scorchers have their first brand-new release in Lord-knows-how-long — Halcyon Times. This gets the Padre all kinds of hot and bothered; we love Jason Ringenberg, here at TExR Central. It's solid stuff, too: it hearkens back to what we always loved about good old fashioned Scorchers cowpunk, but has the maturity of a bandleader who's grown up and developed a pivotal, genre-defining (alt-)country solo career for some 25 years since the (dare I say it?) halcyon days of the Scorchers' chart tenure. Y'all, if you're Ringenberg fans, this album's for you. And, if you're not, what's wrong with you?
